Artesan Crafts

My Company Artesan Crafts makes and retails the Seasplang Beauty brand of hand made soaps and skincare products in Montrose. My business brings good quality, ethical and value for money skin care products to customers who care about what goes onto their skin.  My interest started with soap making as a hobby and then expanded into the science of skincare products. I want to make products which are safe to use on skins and also provide customers with information about ingredient purpose.  My business makes and sells soaps, bath bombs and salts, face masks, hand and foot balm, shampoo and conditioning bars in tins, face oil and a solid  face exfoliator, lip balms.  My products are also on sale at Myriad in Ellon and The Tweed Warehouse in Edzell, and Market Crafts in Banff. More outlets will be stocking my products as lockdown ends.

The business was impacted by lockdown. I have had to drop the gifts side of my business and focus on cosmetics for now until the economy improves.  I make products where every ingredient as a purpose unlike most cosmetic companies where ingredients are added to supply a marketing story. This means my products are a fair price. In addition, my website members get regular discounts and offers.  I provide great customer service and can answer any question about my products.

This year I will grow the business back to where it was in 2019.  In September, I am starting a Diploma in Cosmetic Science with the Society of Cosmetic Scientists, of which I am a member. This should fill in some operational gaps in my knowledge.  As the business grows, I will be able to set up a more fit for purpose manufacturing space and eventually I would like to have a manufacturing lab which includes a teaching lab to partner with schools so that High school students can learn a little about cosmetic science as a potential career path for scientists. This is my ambition for the future.
