Murton is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SC031554) with a dual educational and environmental purpose. We are situated on a former quarry near Forfar in Angus and manage a thriving nature reserve, visitor farm and tearoom set in 100 acres.
At Murton, we wish to enrich people’s lives by using our site to its full potential. We provide a unique environment in which children, young people and adults can learn and develop skills for life through educational programmes and relaxed workshops. We also offer a fantastic volunteer programme.
Murton also offers recreational and leisure facilities for locals and tourists who wish to spend time outdoors. The perfect combination of the nature reserve, visitor farm and tearoom allow us to provide something for everyone. We even have a Rural Skills Cabin and Tipi area, and both can be used for a wide range of events from formal meetings to birthday parties. We do all we can to include our local community in our work and provide holiday activities and monthly workshops for children as some of that work.
Accessibility Information
Our tearoom is fully accessible for all, as is our Rural Skills Cabin and Tipi area. Our nature reserve has accessible paths that cover just half of the route, with grass paths for the remainder. Wheelchairs can access and visit all 3 of our bird hides. Our visitor farm does have maintained grass pathways however most of our paths on the farm are on hills. We recommend contacting the office on 01307 819491 to discuss any wheelchair access to the farm.
We are always happy to discuss any access queries you may have before your visit.
