2020 has been the year that has motivated people to finally start the businesses ventures they’ve always dreamed about. The push may be due to a change in circumstances, or simply having more time to think, plan and execute.
A former Miss Scotland finalist, Susan Walker who lives in Montrose, has finally started a cake baking business after years of family and friends’ encouragement. Top Tier Cakes was set up at the start of November, and it’s been non-stop baking ever since thanks to tremendous local support.
Susan, who works as a Training Coordinator by day, spends her nights and weekends baking birthday, celebration, tray bakes and cupcakes from her kitchen.
Susan said: “I’ve always loved baking and from a young age I’d bake with my Mum. For years I’ve baked for family and friends, and they’ve all said I should turn my passion into a business. 2020 was the year that gave me the confidence to finally do that, and I’m overwhelmed by the support I’ve received already.”
With Christmas coming up, Susan has been busy creating festive delights using flavours like gingerbread, baileys, After Eight and chocolate orange, and already planning bigger things for 2021.
